The first time you load your Calendar screen in Fastmail, we will prompt you with a suggested time zone. This will match the time zone that is set on your device.
If you have the accurate local time and time zone set in your computer's preferences, this should be reflected in the Fastmail web interface.
How to change your time zone
You can change your time zone by going to your Calendar screen and clicking the button that shows your current calendar view, then selecting View in time zone....
A dropdown list will appear. You'll see recent time zones you've used at the top of the dropdown list. You can select your desired time zone from the list, or you can start typing in a location or time zone and matching options will be displayed.
Please note that what you search or select may not always match what is displayed as the time zone location. The location displayed will be the most definitive location for the time zone. For example, if you were to select Philadelphia, PA, USA (EST) as your time zone, this will be displayed as New York, NY, USA (EST).
You can also quickly switch between time zones when creating or editing an event.
Floating time
You can select a special time zone called "Floating time" from the time zone list in your events or calendar.
When an individual event's time zone is set to floating time, it will always occur at the same start time, regardless of which time zone you view it in. As an example, if you created an event at 9:00 AM Eastern time, then traveled to a city in another time zone, the event would still show as 9:00 AM in your calendar.
If you view your entire calendar in floating time, all events will be displayed in floating time.
Troubleshooting incorrect timestamps
If your emails display timestamps which are drastically different than the times they were sent, there are a few things to check in order to work out where the problem is occurring.
- Double check that your computer is set to the correct time and time zone. Timestamps are generally based on the time and time zone set on your machine.
- If you're seeing incorrect timestamps on your emails while using Firefox, you may need to disable Fingerprinting Protection. This feature spoofs the time zone, which changes the times displayed on emails. To disable it, visit about:config and search privacy.
resistFingerprinting . - Try disabling any VPNs or browser extensions you may be using.
