The instructions and screenshots in this setup guide are for the Gmail app, which is the native email client for most Android devices.
You can easily add your Fastmail account to Gmail using the setup guide in the Settings → Migration screen. Click on the Apps & Setup guides tab. In the Setup guides section, click on the Android option. Then, click on the Gmail option. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.
The general setup instructions are below.
Gmail needs its own app password to access your information. If you use your normal password or your Fastmail two step verification password in Gmail, syncing won't work and you will see a password error.

Open the Gmail app.

If you don't already have an account set up, the Welcome to Gmail screen appears. Tap Skip, then Add an email address.

If you do already have an account set up in Gmail, open the app's menu, scroll down to Settings, and then tap Add Account.

On the Set up email screen, tap Other.

Enter your email address: this is your full Fastmail username, including the domain. Tap Next.

Tap Personal (IMAP).

Enter the server settings for incoming mail and tap Next.
