MailMate is an email client for Mac OS X.
MailMate needs its own app password to access your information. If you use your normal password or your Fastmail two step verification password on an external account, syncing to an external service won't work and you will see a password error.
You can set up your MailMate account by following these steps:
-
Open MailMate. You may be prompted to add an account. If not, go to File → Add IMAP Accounts.
- Enter your Fastmail username, then click Search for Settings. MailMate should be able to automatically fill in Fastmail's server details.
- Click Add. Your account will be added and you will be prompted for your MailMate app password so MailMate can log in to your account. (What is an app password?)
If you need to set up your account in MailMate manually, you can follow these steps:
-
Go to File → Add IMAP Accounts.
- Click Configure Manually...
-
Fill in the server details:
- Description: A name to identify this account (anything you like).
- Full Name: The name people will see on the email you send.
- Email Address: The email address you wish to use for sending mail (this is normally your Fastmail username, but can be another address at your own domain).
-
IMAP Server:
imap.fastmail.com
- User Name: Your full Fastmail username, including the domain.
- Password: Your MailMate app password.
- Require SSL: Yes
-
SMTP Server:
smtp.fastmail.com
- User Name: Your full Fastmail username, including the domain.
- Password: Your MailMate app password.
- Require SSL: Yes
The screen should look similar to the image below:
-
Click Add. Your account will be added and you will be prompted for your MailMate app password so MailMate can log in to your account. (What is an app password?)
