Calendar sharing

You can share calendars in your Fastmail account to anyone on the web via a public calendar URL. You can also add public calendar URLs to your account. The URL is read-only, and can be viewed by anyone who has the link.

Note: Public calendar URLs link to downloadable ICS files. A public calendar URL can be viewed in a calendar client, but cannot be viewed in a web browser.

This page is about sharing calendars to the general public. If you want to share calendars with other users in your account, view our multi-user sharing guide.

Share your calendar

Public calendar URLs can be used to share the information in one of your calendars with someone else, even if they use a different calendar system. There are two different URLs you can choose to share: one links to the full details of each event in the calendar; the other only reveals the times you are busy, but does not contain any information about the events themselves.

To enable the public URL for a calendar in your account:

  1. Open the Settings → Calendars screen.
  2. Find the calendar in the list and click the Edit & share button.
  3. Find the Publish section and click the toggle button next to Full event details or Free/busy information, depending on what information you wish to share.
  4. A URL will be shown. You can copy this URL and give it to the people you wish to share your calendar data with. The URL will become active as soon as you click Save

A public calendar URL can be viewed by anyone who has the link. If a URL gets shared with someone who shouldn't have it, you can use the Reset URL button to change to a new URL. You can also turn it off from the same screen. URLs are not guessable.

Add someone else's calendar

To add a public calendar URL that someone has shared with you to your account:

  1. Open the Settings → Calendars screen.
  2. Find the Subscriptions section at the end of the screen.
  3. Paste the URL you were given into the field.
  4. Click Subscribe to calendar.
  5. A new screen will appear where you can create the calendar's settings, such as choosing a color and giving the calendar a name. Be sure to click Save.
