Setting up Windows 11 Mail

The instructions and screenshots in this setup guide are for the Mail application on Windows 11.

Windows 11 Mail needs its own app password to access your information. If you use your normal password, emails won't download to Windows 11 Mail and you will see a password error.

Set up your email

You can easily add your Fastmail account to Windows 11 Mail using the setup guide in Settings → Import & Setup. The general setup instructions are as follows:

  1. Open Windows Mail and click the hamburger button to expand the sidebar. Then, click Accounts to navigate to the Manage accounts screen.

Calendars and contacts

Windows 11 only supports a limited number of external contact and calendar servers, and does not support syncing Fastmail contacts and calendars. We have seen workarounds to sync the Fastmail contacts and calendars; however, we do not recommend these workarounds.

You will need to use a third party plugin to sync Fastmail contacts and calendars. We haven't tested any plugins from our end, but you are free to choose one.

Please note: we are not able to provide support for troubleshooting and maintaining the third party plugins, as these are not hosted on our service.
